Forward Deployed Engineer (f/m/d)

München, Berlin
Full-time
Permanent employee
70,000 - 80,000 € per year

Your mission

Your Impact
German hospitals lose revenue every day because medical coding is manual, slow and error-prone. Coders work through discharge letters and reports by hand while documentation grows faster than any team can keep up with. At Valova we build an AI-assisted coding and revenue cycle management software that takes let’s hospitals focus their time on patients.
Our product works best when it is deeply integrated into the hospital tech infrastructure and when we have workflows and features that truly enable our users to solve their problems - this is where we need you. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you own technical go-lives end to end.

Your Tasks
  • Bring hospitals live, from sandbox to production: deploy Valova on hospital VMs and connect it to KIS systems such as SAP i.s.h.med, Orbis or Dedalus.
  • Build and maintain interfaces (HL7, FHIR, archive and document exports) together with hospital IT and their partners.
  • Configure the product per customer: document types, case filtering, department rules and coding workflows.
  • Work on site with coders and medical controlling and translate their friction into clear product requirements.
  • Write the code that makes deployments repeatable: connectors, scripts, monitoring, internal tooling.
  • Answer technical questions in security and data protection reviews (BSI C5, GDPR).
Success after six months: you have taken at least two hospitals live and a new KIS (Hospital Information System) connection takes weeks instead of months.

Your profile

  • 2+ years of software engineering experience and are comfortable with Linux, Docker and basic networking concepts.
  • Experience in system integration; HL7/FHIR or SAP environments are a big plus.
  • You enjoy working with customers and explain technical topics clearly to IT leads and coders alike.
  • Fluent German and English, since our customers work in German.
  • High ownership: you move issues forward even when three parties are involved.
What This Role Is and Isn't
It is a hands-on engineering role with real code in production and direct influence on our roadmap. It is not a support desk, not a pre-sales role and not project management where others do the building. And it is not a desk job: you will regularly be on site in hospitals.

About us

About us
We are a young team in Munich with a clear mission and plenty of room to shape things. Here you take on responsibility from day one, work closely with experienced founders, and see directly what difference your work makes for our customers. We value ownership, short decision paths, and honest feedback. Security and diligence are not at odds with speed for us, especially in the sensitive environment of healthcare.
Hospitals in Germany are under enormous pressure. Skilled staff are in short supply, documentation requirements keep growing, and a significant share of working hours goes into administration rather than caring for patients. This is exactly where we come in. Valova is building an AI platform for medical coding, DRG grouping, and revenue cycle management. We automate the complex and error-prone processes around ICD, OPS, and billing data, so that hospitals can work faster, more accurately, and more efficiently. We are building the platform that maps a hospital's entire revenue process, from the initial diagnosis through complete and accurate coding all the way to billing with payers. Today, each of these steps is marked by broken workflows, manual rework, and avoidable revenue losses. Our vision is an end-to-end revenue cycle management that closes these gaps: fewer claim reductions and medical service reviews, a clean case mix, and a financial foundation that gives hospitals room to breathe again. When administration runs reliably in the background, care is what wins in the end.

Why you belong here
You don't just want a job, you want to move something that is genuinely needed in the German healthcare system. Whether you come from medicine, customer-facing roles, technology, or operations: what matters to us is that you want to take ownership and enjoy an environment where much is still taking shape. You bring curiosity, diligence, and the ambition to do things really well. Then we should get to know each other.
